The Valley Between

The night I crossed from Iran into Turkey — and from boyhood into exile.

This episode took longer than I expected to finish — not because of the editing… but because of what it asked me to relive.

It tells the story of a border crossing, yes — but more truthfully, it’s the story of how a soul begins to split.

We drank from melting snow. We hid under boulders. I watched my body slide down an icy mountain. And yet — we made it.

This is the most physically harrowing part of the journey I’ve told so far.

And it’s one that still echoes in my bones.
